Disagreement has erupted over a controversial Press Release issued on January 9th, 2012 by the Inter – Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Secretariat castigating the conduct of the Somalia’s Transitional Federal Government (TFG) Parliament.

The African Development Bank (ADB) gave the Eastern Africa region US$560.3 million in loans and grants in 2010. This represented an increase of 8.7 per cent over the US$515.6 million approved in 2009 to nance projects in the 2011 financial year.

The funds are meant to finance energy, communications, infrastructure and transport projects in nine countries that included those from the Horn of Africa region. The ADB targets Eastern Africa countries comprising greater Somalia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Etritrea, Djibouti, Burundi, Comoros, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Equity Bank Group recorded an impressive after tax prot of Ksh7.3 billion in the third quarter of the year ending September 30, 2011. This is an almost 38 per cent rise from last year’s earnings of Ksh5.3 billion.

The regional lender recorded a 42 per cent post tax prot and a 43 per cent growth in the group’s total assets to settle at Ksh195.4 billion, a signicant rise from Ksh136.6 registered in September
